AFGE Scholarships
John N. Sturdivant (JNS) served as President of the AFGE from 1988 to 1997. He strongly believed in the role of education in empowering union members and their families to become effective leaders – in the workplace, in the union, and in the community. To celebrate John’s legacy, and to honor his commitment to building a better life for all AFGE members and their dependents, the AFGE National Executive Board has established the JNS Family Scholarship. Applications are accepted each year from January until the last Friday in March.

JNS Family Scholarship
Beginning in January and ending in March, AFGE members and their dependents will be eligible to apply for the John N. Sturdivant (JNS) Family Scholarships. Twenty five scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded for AFGE members and dependents who are enrolled in an accredited institution or in a course of study leading to a 2-year, 4-year, or graduate degree.
